Friends Fiduciary Proposal at Kroger is highlighted

This proxy season Friends Fiduciary filed a shareholder proposal at Kroger asking the company to issue a report describing how it can adopt strategies to curtail the predominant source of its operational (Scope 1) GHG emissions, by eliminating the use of hydrofluorocarbons (a highly potent greenhouse gas) in refrigeration. Through the outreach efforts of the NGOs Green America and the Environmental Investigation Agency, the proposal garnered wider exposure through media coverage such as the articles in the trade publication R744, on June 6 and June 14. The proposal and vote were also featured in Corporate Secretary which noted “35.4 percent of votes cast at the grocery company’s AGM on June 23 were in favor of the proposal, a level of support widely regarded as significant in the governance community.”
