FFC Supports Investor Letter to the US Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors on Climate Risk

August 2, 2022

Friends Fiduciary has signed onto an investor letter organized by the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility asking the US Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors to “publicly support and work to secure passage of the climate and clean energy investments being considering in Congress,” as well as ensure “that the Chamber does not again block meaningful climate and clean energy policies.” As investors we continue to be concerned about the misalignment of company statements and values on climate change with their lobbying activities – including those of their trade associations, including the Chamber – that often “conflict with climate-forward policy.” As a trade association with significant membership, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce plays an outsized role in this disconnect between company positions and stated values and how corporate assets are being used by their trade associations.
